Serve on the Board
North Metro Fire is guided by an elected board of directors consisting of five members. Each board member serves a four-year term and is limited to three consecutive board terms. Beginning in 2023, board elections will be held every two years in May in odd-numbered years for four-year terms. However, during the current transition period, elections will occur on May 5, 2020, and May 3, 2022 for three-year terms.
Directors are required to attend monthly board meetings at the District’s Headquarters (101 Spader Way, Broomfield) and occasional study sessions as needed. Directors are also encouraged to attend community events hosted by the District as able. Directors are compensated by the District with a stipend for the meetings they attend.
In order to serve on North Metro Fire’s board of directors, you must fulfill one of the following requirements. You must be:
- A resident of the fire district or area to be included in the District for at least 30 days
- The owner (or spouse/civil union partner of owner) of taxable real or personal property situated within the boundaries of the District
- A person who is obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property within the District
Run in 2020 Election
North Metro Fire is seeking candidates to fill three board of director positions starting May 2020. Interested candidates must submit a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form to the fire district by February 28. Board members will serve a three-year term following the election on May 5.

The Office of the DEO is open Monday through Friday (except legal holidays) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The deadline to submit a Self-Nomination and Acceptance Form is close of business on Friday, February 28, 2020. Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate Forms must be submitted to the office of the designated election official by the close of business on Monday, March 2, 2020 (the 64th day before the election). Please contact Heather Brown at 303-453-9910, if you need an Affidavit of Intent To Be A Write-In-Candidate Form. Earlier submittal is encouraged, as the deadline will not permit correcting a form that is deemed insufficient after the deadline.
